I spent three years researching and visiting prisons, prisoners and ex-prisoners across Germany. I did this to understand the impact of the current penal system on a personal level. What role plays physical isolation and how does stigma carry on in life after prison. What I learnt was spanning from education and medical support inside the so called correctional facilities to chances it can hold.
